First Trimester Update!

on

I am pregnant! Yay!! We are due early November . While this wasn’t a super surprise for my husband and I, since we weren’t actively trying to prevent pregnancy, the timing could have been better. But God’s timing is always perfect, so that is what we are walking in. I found out I was pregnant the week before EVERYTHING shut down. I took that as an opportunity to find a new OB practice that was closer to home and work and the hospital was also closer.

How I Found Out

My cycle is very regular. Like to a fault, I have only been late one other time and that was when I stopped hormonal birth control and my body was trying to sort itself out. So I was a good week late, but I was experiencing all of my normal symptoms: breast tenderness, hormone shift, and mild cramps, so I was very sure that my period was on the way. Then at about a week and a half late I was like I can’t kid myself any longer and I bought a test. I like to buy the one with lines and the digital one, I didnt get a picture of the line one but that one gave me two lines IMMEDIATELY. Then see photo below for the digital one.

Positive!

Exhaustion

I’ll be honest being forced to be home was a blessing for me in the first trimester. I was exhausted. I used to joke, “Whatever game this baby and I are playing, the baby is winning!” I was so tired all the time! I can’t imagine having to stand and interact with teenagers all day during that time!

Sickness

Along with the exhaustion came the nauseous feeling. Thankfully I don’t deal with morning sickness (thanks mommy) but the nausea was terrible! I couldn’t sit in the passenger side of a car, everything I smelled made me feel like I would get sick. The only thing that made me feel remotely better was Ginger Ale. This go round the nausea was way worse then the pregnancy with my son, so i’m pretty confident this means a girl.

Aversions

Unfortunately the only real aversion I’ve had is coffee. This baby is not a fan! That makes me sad but once again not having to wake up at the crack of dawn for work makes the need for coffee not that intense.

All in all, this first trimester was different this pregnancy, I was able to see the little one on the ultrasound, but my husband hasn’t been able to come with me to my appointment due to our governors stay-at-home orders. Everything looks healthy with this little bean.

Little Bean at seven weeks

Quick funny story, I mentioned earlier I switch Ob practices for one closer to home. The one I used to go to was across town. My first appointment is rescheduled because they have to close the office close to me due to the stay-at- home order. Guess where? Across town! *facepalm*. I hope to keep you all updated with this pregnancy!

Masks are NOT optional at my OB office.
